Stephanie Johnson, MSN, FNP, is a Clinical Lecturer of Nursing and teaches in the ABSN program.  She began her nursing career at the age of 17 as a candy striper while she achieved her Associates degree from a community college. She received her baccalaureate degree from Capital University in Columbus Ohio in 1992. Furthering her education at Bellarmine University, she received her master’s degree in nursing with the emphasis on administration. Post master’s certifications include certification in nursing education from Kent state in 1992 as well as her family nurse practitioner certification from UMass Boston in 2019. She is currently set to confer her doctoral studies from Spalding University in December 2020.  Her clinical background ranges from critical care, administration call mama open heart transplant and first assist as well as family medicine. She currently practices as a hospitalist on our open-heart team on the weekends as well as functioning as a family nurse practitioner one day a week.  Her career and academics have been as a tenured professor since 2004 with the sole responsibility for medical surgical, critical care, leadership, research and capstone courses. She is also a certified nurse educator.  Professional practice includes serving as a magnet appraiser since 2001 for the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her role is as a team leader, mentor, team member and consultant.  Service includes her role as the designated nurse practitioner for the Kentucky State Police. The divisions she focuses her time with include the crisis response teams, the riot squads and the Electronics Crimes Branch.
