Additional Information
Dr. Linden has a continued interest in 1) how overweight/obesity contribute to lifestyle related diseases such as type 2 diabetes, the metabolic syndrome, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, 2) how lifestyle interventions such as exercise training, dietary intervention, and/or caloric restriction can prevent and treat these conditions, and 3) how pharmacological therapies with and without lifestyle modification affect glycemic control and ectopic lipid deposition. Dr. Linden has extensive training in both human research as well as the use of cell culture and preclinical models. Her research relies on translational approaches to answer focused research questions and she strives to use clinical observations from interventional trials to identify molecular mechanisms that contribute metabolic health and disease across the lifespan. The goal of her research program is to identify better ways to treat dysregulated metabolism and lifestyle-related diseases.
