Groups, organizations, and resources that are available on campus to students. 
 

  • Office of Diversity & Inclusion | The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion actively supports and advances the university’s values of diversity and inclusion, engagement, transformation and cultural development. ODEI acts as an advocate, resource broker, educator and dialogue facilitator to ensure that all members of the campus community are included, respected and valued in all spaces.

  • Black Student Center | A place for students of color to be able to work, relax, and communicate with each other outside of their class time, as well as provide meetings to open their eyes to the world around us and how it’s constantly changing. | Instagram @UMBBSC
  • Cultural Student Groups | UMass Boston offers numerous student groups, here is a section of those groups that have categorized themselves as cultural groups.  
  • Haitian American Society | The Haitian American Society (H.A.S) was established to promote awareness of Haitian culture and advocate for the needs of the Haitian community by providing a space for student fellowship, educational resources and recreational activities. 
  • African Student Union | The African Student Union was established to unify African students and mobilize the UMass Boston community towards a substantive discussion of the continent, its possibilities, as well as its pitfalls.
  • Ghanian Student Association | The Ghanaian Student Association is a student-led organization that brings those of Ghanaian descent together to express and promote their identity on campus. GSA also welcomes non-Ghanaian members who would like to learn and be part of the experience.
  • UMB NAACP Campus Chapter | The mission of the NAACP Youth & College Division shall be to inform youth of the problems affecting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities; to advance the economic, education, social and political status of African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities and their harmonious cooperation with other people; to stimulate an appreciation of the African Diaspora and other people of color’s contribution to civilization; and to develop an intelligent, militant effective youth leadership. | Instagram @UMB_NAACP
  • Cape Verdean Student Association | The Cape Verdean Student Association (CVSA) seeks to educate and promote the history of Cape Verde’s culture to the university’s student body, faculty, and staff members.
  • Immigrant Student Programs & Resources | The ISP consists of a mentorship program that supports Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, and undocumented students. This program was created to support these students in accessing resources such as scholarships, mental health resources, and a mentorship program. 
  • Student Multicultural Affairs | Student Multicultural Affairs at UMass Boston strives to build a university community in which different cultural viewpoints and diverse identities are explored, disseminated, and respected.
  • Social Justice Learning Community | The Social Justice LLC is a community that strives to explore issues around social justice, civic engagement, and global citizenship. They are a community of leaders who connect with one another to create a positive impact through social networks and inclusion initiatives, while focusing on developing leadership skills to inquire and advocate for social change.
