Acquisition Requests

Suggest items to be added to the library's collections. Note: Healey Library reviews general collection requests on a case-by-case basis. If we don't purchase your recommendation now, we will record your requests for future acquisitions. We do purchase content in support of coursework and teaching, including for use in Blackboard.

Course Reserves

At the instructor's request, library staff will process and provide students equal access to required and/or supplemental course readings. Copyright restrictions apply.

Film & Media

Healey's film and media collection consists of more than 2,000 DVDs and over 30,000 streaming videos. There is a list of streaming vendors but all physical and digital titles are searchable on the online catalog where you can use Filter Your Result to click on 'video'.  

Institutional Repository & Open Access

Faculty members and researchers at UMass Boston have the opportunity to make their research openly available to the world through personal Author Pages on ScholarWorks, the open access campus institutional repository for scholarship and research. Learn about UMass Boston’s Open Access Policy.

Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery

Interlibrary Loan
Submit requests for books, journal articles, and film unavailable at Healey Library.

Document Delivery
Library staff will deliver Healey Library items to your desktop.

Library Instruction Program

Healey Library offers a variety of programs and services to help UMass Boston students engage in key, lifelong, critical thinking and information-seeking skills.

Open Educational Resources (OER)

Healey Library and IT Educational Technology have joined forces to support faculty members that would like to adopt an open textbook or other OER content, and/or would like to create OER content to be used for their course.  For a brief overview, please see our OER quick guide.

Research Guides

Upon request, librarians will create portals to high quality research information for courses and assignments. Request through Ask a Librarian.

University Archives & Special Collections

UASC, located on the 5th floor of the Joseph P. Healey Library, provides pedagogical support and extensive primary source resource materials to engage students across disciplines. UASC staff are available for consultations, assignment support, and instruction sessions.
