Instructional Resources

Instructure Canvas

Canvas is a Learning Management System (LMS) that includes helpful tools for communication, content delivery, assessment, grading and more.

Accessible Course Content: Yuja Panorama

Panorama automatically identifies ADA accessibility issues with course content and helps remediate the content to improve access for all learners.

LinkedIn Learning 

16,000+ videos on relevant topics, including MS Office, Canvas, Photoshop. Faculty can link directly to videos from within Canvas courses. Completion certificates can be displayed on a LinkedIn profile to enhance employability.

Teaching Toolbox

Collaboration

  • Zoom is a multimedia tool used for video, and audio discussions, narrating PowerPoints, built-in quizzes, and individual and group assignments.
  • Pronto is a real-time text chat tool for desktop or mobile devices that features individual direct messages and group chats.
  • Google Workspace: Collaborate with other Google Drive users using your UMass Boston account to access the full Google Suite of tools. 
  • WordPress: Create a website using WordPress with your UMass Boston 
    account
     blogs.umb.edu.

Engagement

  • Studio is a multimedia tool used for video, and audio discussions, narrating PowerPoints, built-in quizzes, and individual and group assignments. 
  • Echo360: an Active Learning Platform that combines video, lecture capture, polling and course analytics at echo360.umb.edu.
  • Perusall: is an online social annotation platform that allows you to increase student engagement, collaboration, and community within your course.
  • Canvas Teacher and Student Apps are available for teachers and students on Android and iOS. 

Assessment

  • Turnitin is a plagiarism prevention tool that can be used in a Canvas course.
  • Respondus Lockdown Browser & Monitor are two tools that increase the security of test delivery in Canvas. 
  • Gradescope makes it easier for instructors to quickly grade remote and paper-based 
    assignments and gain additional insights into student learning.
  • Respondus 4.0 allows you to import text-based tests (Word, etc.) into Canvas.
