Environmental Anthropology Minor

Explore the Intersection Between Humans & the Environment.

UMass Boston's Environmental Anthropology Minor program focuses on the influence of humans and human interactions on their environments. You'll study the economic, social, and political factors that impact the environment and community health. The program also explores different belief systems, religions, political ideologies, and cultural knowledge and how they shape human life and behaviors.

The program aims to nurture a new generation of culturally and environmentally aware global leaders and practitioners. After you finish, you'll be prepared to take job roles that focus on creating sustainable communities and finding solutions to address global challenges.

Completion Requirements

Complete 18 credits from six courses, including three core courses, two electives, and one environmental capstone.

GPA: A minimum GPA of 2.75 is required for all courses applied toward the minor.
Pass/fail: No courses taken pass/fail may be applied toward the minor.
Residency: At least four courses for the minor must be completed at UMass Boston.
